Noted social activist and organiser of Mission Birubala Dr Birubala Rabha was conferred the 12th Upendra Nath Brahma Soldier of Humanity Award, 2015 at a function held at Commerce College auditorium hall today in Kokrajhar. 

The award has been giving every year in the name of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma, former president of the All Bodo Students Union ( ABSU) and noted educationist by Upendra Nath Brahma Trust (UNBT) to keep alive of ideology and philosophy among society. 

The award carries a citation, momento, traditional Aronai and cash 50,000. 

Dr. Rabha accepting the award expressed her happiness said that it has encouraged more to work to the social protection among society. She said that she will gain more step to create awareness more on social protection and humanity. 

Among others, noted writer Brajendra Kumar Brahma, sahitya academy awardee Janil Kumar Brahma, Pramod Boro, president of Absu, UG Brahma, ex MP were present on the occasion.

BTC employees stage dharna

Hundreds of employees of BTC temporary employees staged three dharna in front of DC office in Kokrajhar raising their demand and grievances on Friday. Their demands include steps to regularize their jobs and fresh appointment either fixed pay or regular in the council. With banners and festoons in their hands, the protestors under the banner of BTC CSB selected Un - regularised Employees Association shouted slogans to raise their demands. CIT student dies in mishap

A student of Central Institute of Technology, Kokrajhar identified as Jangila Basumatary, 25, died and a rider received injury early this morning at a road mishap in Kokrajhar town. Jangila was last year student of B Tech in CIT, Kokrajhar met a road mishap at Habrubari over bridge this morning around 4.30 am with his bike. Bike rider injury was immediately rushed to Kokrajhar hospital.Jangila was hailed from Baganpur Nikashi of Baksa district and lived at rented lodging in Kokrajhar. 

BJP stages demo in Kokrajhar

NDFB-S ultra held in Baska

Police arrested a hardcore NDFB-S militant from Kahurbaha in Baksa district on Wednesday. Identified as Maidee Basumatary, he was captured during an operation by a group of Tamulpur police early in the morning. Police further claimed to have seized two grenades, 4 detonators along with 2 fuse wires and 4 demand notes from his possession.

Salbagan beat City Police

Gossaigaon Salbagan FC beat City Police, Guwahati 2-0 on Monday's match of the Daoharu Mungklong Trophy being played at Dotma DASA ground in Kokrajhar. Monjit Rabha of Salbagan netted first goal in 22 minutes and Timothy Onyekae scored another goal in 36 minutes of the first half . City Police tried to equalize the match, but failed in their trying and lost to Salbagan. Dotma DASA Xi will taken on Coochbehar Municipality FC, West Bengal on October 7.

Focus on UPF role in Dispur

United Peoples Front (UPF) claimed on Monday that it would play a prominent role in the formation of the next government in Dispur. Talking to reporters after addressing a rally in Chirang, the working head of the newly floated party said UPF will contest in 35 seats.“I believe that our party will be showing good performance in the autonomous council areas. UPF is a common platform of the councils in the state,” said Dr Rongpi. He said he was confident UPF will win in all contested seats and play a key role in the formation of govt.
