A Reception Committee(RC) was formed with Ardhendra Basumatary as president and Bonti Rabha as general secretary to hold second annual conference of the United Bodo People's Organization (UBPO) and its 'Foundation Day' is scheduled to be held on July 17 and 18 next at Joypukhuri playground, Sisupani of Golaghat district.
Stating in a press release issued by Gambaru Muchahary, general secretary and Anil Basumatary, spokesman of the organization said that the organisation has decided to intensify their movements and to mount pressure the governments for early granting of a grand Autonomous Council for the down-trodden Boro-Kachari indigenous tribal people living outside the jurisdiction of the BTAD and other 8 (eight) point charter of demands submitted by memorandum to Chief Minister of Assam Tarun Gogoi on March 5 last this year.The organisation said that an executive committee meeting of UBPO was held at Bathoupuri, Dwimalu Path Gorchuk in Guwahati discussed the pros and cons ongoing NRC update process and the organisation hailed the decisions of the All Bodo Students Union (ABSU), action taken in this regard and also the meeting appeals the Bodo people living in Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and some parts of the country for their means of livelihood; but they are real voters of Assam to come for taking-up their names in NRC update process without further delay.
The meeting also condoled over the death of Arup Gwra Basumatary, founder speaker of the ABSU on June 19 expressed deep concern that Bodo peoples lost a great organizer and a nationalist Bodo leader,the released added.
