Manipur attack : NIA gets custody of top NSCN(K) leader

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday had taken into custody of a top leader of Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagaland-Khaplang or NSCN(K) allegedly involved in the conspiracy behind the June 4 killing of 18 army personnel in Manipur.

Khumlo Abi Anal, the regional commander of NSCN(K), was arrested by Manipur police from Lamphel in Imphal city on June 16.

According to reports, NIA who probe into the worst attack had taken the NSCN(K) leader into custody.

Newly-floated outfit comprised with several splinter groups like NSCN(K), ULFA(I), Kamatapur Liberation Organisation (KLO), NDFB(S) had claimed responsibility of the deadly attack.

At least 18 army soldiers were killed in the attack by the militant groups in Chandel district of Manipur bordering with Myanmar on June 4.

It is one of the worst attacks on Indian security forces by militants.
