NTPC Bongaigaon commissions 250 MW

The NTPC Bongaigaon Thermal Power Project(BgTPP),Salakati  has  commissioned the first 250 Megawatt(MW) capacity unit of (3 x 250 MW) successfully with NE Regional Grid on June 22 in Kokrajhar.

Speaking the media men at BgTPP conference hall today Utpal Chakrabarty,Group General Manager(GGM) of NTPC BgTPP,Salakati announced that the power project has successfully commissioned to enable the Unit to send power to the grid from its generation. He told that this is the 1st Unit of NTPC in North-Eastern part of India and state of Assam will get 50% power of the generated power from this project unit and remaining other two 2 and 3 units of 2x250 power generations will be implementation by 15 to 17 months next.

Chakrabarty told, ‘We have gone through the 250 MW on full loading in its succssfull and subsequently on the same day with full loading.It is a great success for all of us for this moment that incidently this is the first 250 MW power production in the state of Assam and big such single big unit thermal power production and never power unit of Assam was commissioned in the state of Assam.This is the  previlege and honour of the state of Assam in power generation sector’.

He also told that all related function and jobs will be implemented within six months and remaining workrs in the project will see a succssfull intiative.

Mentioned be made that the project was laid foundation by the then Prime Minister Dr Manmahan Singh on January 16 in 2006 and was scheduled to complete by 2011,but due to several reasons prevailed in the region, the commissioned was delayed and successfully the first unit of 250 MW was commissioned.

Security forces seized a truck carrying smuggled teak logs from Alangi area under Kokrajgar police station on Wednesday.The consignment was intercepted from a truck bearing No AS-01A 7434 as it was on way to Kalgachia in Barpeta from Athiabari in Kokrajhar.Police arrested four persons in this connection. Kokrajhar police arrested three money snatchers from Kokrajhar SBI complex today while they were tried to snatch money from a banker.According to police,three persons hailed Darjeeling of West Bengal state were arrested when they tried to snatched  money from a banker who coming out from SBI after drawing money from bank.They followed the SBI complex in Kokrajhar town on day brought light.The arrested were identified as Ashok Das,Aman Shah and Kiteo Das,hailed from Darjeeling.

Governor PB Acharjya arrived is on a visit to Kokrajhar on Friday where he reviewed the implementation of the development schemes in the BTAD areas.   Then he reviewed the law and order situation in BTAD holding a meeting with top ranked police officials including IGP. He further visited Bathow Thansali in Kokrajhar during his day long visit.
