NRC update

The ongoing National Register of Citizens (NRC) update process in Chirang district has made good progress as per scheduled programme. The district administration has already issued Legacy Datas and distributed NRC Application forms to almost all the citizens,though  some of the citizens urged for English and Bodo application forms.The district administration has sent proposal to the  RGI, Govt of India for approval this, which is likely to be received soon. It has also started receiving application forms back and Data entry works at the designated NRC Seva Kendras. As such, with a view to helping to the public in filling up  the application forms and generating awareness on the process, the Local Registrars of Citizen Registration (LRCR) and Block Level Officers (BLO) were asked to visit field areas  frequently by the d5istrict administration. Meanwhile, the Chirang DC Rupak Kr. Mazumdar held a review meeting on progress of NRC updation in the district on Friday with the Circle Registrars of Citizen Registration (CRCR), Assistant Circle Registrars of Citizen Registration (ACRCR) and Local Registrars of Citizen Registration (LRCR) in the conference hall of the DC Office. In the meeting, he took stock of the status of distribution of application forms, receive of application forms, issue of Legacy Datas, organising Community Level Meetings, interest of public in NRC updation, problems faced at field level, available technical and manpower positions at NRC Seva Kendras. He has asked the officers to put maximum efforts for making the process of NRC updating a success in the district. The meeting was also attended by ADC Dasarat Das, District Resourse Person for NRC Manashjyoti Baruah, Sidli CO Karmadev Brahma and Bijni CO Roseleen Das.

It has been informed that the district administration has so far distributed 1,47,804 application forms against the 1,7,664 house holds in the district and received completed application forms more than 1000 applications till today.

ANCC to blockade trains on Feb 22

The Adivasi National Convention Committee (ANCC), a conglomeration organization of the ceasefire militant outfits of the Adivasi community has strongly expressed resentment over the snail pace of the peace talk and delayed solutions of the community issues which included granting of Scheduled Tribe (ST) status to the Adivasis. NDFB-S link man held

 A link man of NDFB-Songbijit faction was arrested by security forces belonging to police and army from Saraibil under Gossaigaon police station on Thursday in Kokrajhar district.  Getting input about working of link man in the area, a joint team of security forces launched operation and managed to arrest the link man. He was identified as Rana Narzary of Nachraibil. He was involved with money collection, extortion, providing administrative support and information about movement of security forces to militant outfit organization.  A pistol, two live ammunition was recovered from him. 

Ajmal foundation dedicates houses for riot victims

Lok Sabha MP and AIUDF supremo Maulana Badaruddin Ajmal dedicated houses to the 2012 BTAD riot victims under the humanity services of Ajmal Foundation. Ajmal inaugurated the newly constructed houses for Bodo peoples at Bakuabangi village under Bilasipara east LAC in Dhubri district and Ajmal Model village at Bhotgaon Kashipara under Kokrajhar east LAC in Kokrajhar district in the presence of huge public gathering on Wednesday. Workshop on Golden langur census organised

A census technique workshop on Golden Langur was organised by Kokrajhar Wildlife division in association with Primate Research centre NE India at Choraikola in Kokrajhar on Tuesday. Hundreds of forest staff,NGO volunteer and students participated from various parts of the district in the workshop and took knowledge and awareness about census technique of Golden langur in the region. Hospital wall kills boy

A seven-years-old boy was succumbed to hospital following wall collapsed at Ghoskata Korida Madati sub-centre today in Kokrajhar district. According to family source, the boy identified as Bhim Brahma, son  of Bircharan Brahma of Korida Madati village was received serious injuries following wall collapsed along the newly constructed wall at Korida Madati sub-centre  this afternoon around 1 pm when he was playing with his friends. He was immediately rushed to Kokrajhar Rup Nath Brahma civil hospital for treatment and succumbed to hospital.
