14 injured in Howly road mishap

Altogether 14 people have been injured, four them seriously, when a fast moving passenger bus collided head on with an auto van near BH College area in Assam's Barpeta district on Tuesday morning. It was around 7 in the morning when the mishap took place.

According to a senior police official of Barpeta, the accident took place when the driver of the Tata Mobile van coming from the Howli side, in its bid to save a cyclist which came in its way, diverted the vehicle eventually hitting the bus bearing registration number AM 1899, which was coming from the opposite direction.
"While the seriously injured have been shifted to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital, the others have been rushed to the nearest hospital.
