Gamlin joins as Delhi chief secy

Despite stiff resistance from Arvind Kejriwal and his lobby senior IAS officer from Assam Shakuntala Gamlin took over as Delhi chief secretery. 

Shakuntala, the daughter of former minister Lalit Doley and wife of former Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Jarbom Gamlin has alleged intimidation by a section of bureacrates not to take over. 

He was Lt Governor Jung who appointed her in the top post defying the chief minister's opposition who calls her corrupt.

A Dimapur-Guwahati bus has, on Saturday, met with an accident at Golaghat. As per reports the bus while heading to Dimapur accidentally veered off the main road in the wee hours at Garampani. Fortunately, all passengers were safely rescued. The driver and the handiman of the bus ran away after the accident, sources said.
The United Liberation Front of Assam(Independent) Assam has claimed the responsibility of the blast that occurred at upper Assam town of Digboi, near an army camp. Taking the responsibility, the banned outfit's has issued statement. In the statement signed by its publicity department's in-charge self-styled Captain Deep Asom said, “At around 6-45pm on January 22, 2021 a bomblast occured at the  camp of the 3rd Garhowal regiment of the Indian Army. In a tragic accident, six migrant workers from Assam, reportedly, died in a forest area in Meghalaya after falling into a pit. The NDTV has reported that the accident occured in East Jayantia Hills. Meanwhile, in a facebook post senior journalist Patricia Mukhim has said that the mortal remains of the miners are kept in the morgue at Khliehriat. In the post Mukhim lamented saying, “ Just out: 6 miners have died due to an accident inside an abandoned coal mine in East Jaintia Hills..All 6 are from Assam. Bodies lying in the morgue at Khliehriat..And we say there's no mining???””

Rajya Sabha MP Ajit Kumar Bhuyan, on Thursday claimed that the Congress-AIUDF grand alliance will win 88 seats in the upcoming Assam assembly elections. Slamming the ruling BJP, the Rajya Sabha MP also said that the alliance will perform beyond its expectation. “We will able to win in 88 seats. Badarpur: In a shocking incident, at least 15 passengers were injured after the Sealdah-Kanchanjunga Express met with an accident at the Badarpur railway station. Police said that among the injured, five of the passengers were critically injured and have been rushed to Railway Hospital. Unfortunately among the gravely injured are a pregnant woman and a child. The hapless people of Lakia Dadhia, who became homeless after a massive erosion, have appealed help from people for survival. In December last year they have started a sit-in-demonstration demanding rehabilitation. Atleast  15 MLAs and Ministers in the current Assam assembly have criminal cases registered against them, said the Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR). As per reports, the ADR has analysed the affidavits filed by the MLAs ahead of the 2016 assembly elections and bye elections and revealed the sensational data. The analysis further stated the cases registered against the elected representatives includes murder, theft, rioting, cheating among others. Most the cases are still pending, report said.
