Hundreds of Congress workers formally joined BJP Karbi Anglong district hardly a year before the assembly polls.
The Congress workers joined BJP at a meeting on Saturday in Bakaliaghat in presence of state BJP president Siddharth Bhattacharya.
“We are fed up with Congress who has done precious little for the last many years. We have no option but to go with BJP,” said BJ Ingty, a Congress activist.
Rinky Kathar, a strong Congress activist deplored before Assam Times that what she hoped were not fulfilled by the Congress government. “We have lots of problems. During more than a decade we only got assurance and nothing else. We think BJP is the proper alternative,” she said.
“We hope our genuine leaders would contest with BJP ticket. We will ensure their election early next year. We will help him,” said Naveen Watson who also joined BJP in the same function.
A senior BJP leader told Assam Times more and more Congress and AGP activists are waiting to join the party. He said, ”our party leadership are ready to welcome those who are willing to join.”
