Six nominated members in BTAD

BPF ruled BTC administration has announced nominated six members to the BTC Legislative Assembly after few days taking oath of office and secrecy for third consecutive terms on Tuesday after a threadbare sitting of the council and party office bearers in Guwahati. 

According to sources, the members are nominated from various communitites which were not represented in the eldction which comprises of four women and two men which included Puleswary Devi (Salakati), Purnima Chetry( Chirang), Amal Prabha Shutradhar(Bijni), Triven Sangma (Parbatjhora),Sabita Rubi Das (Bijni) and Gitima Das (Gossaigaon).

In the recent concluded could council election, BPF party won 20 seats and managed to form council on support of independent candidate from Goreswar constituency of Baksa district. The PCDR won 7, AIUDF 4, BJP 1 and 8 others won. 

Mentioned be made that this time council have 19 members in opposition bench.

The overall flood scene in Assam refuses to improve on Tuesday with incessant rains that lashed the state for the last couple of days. Rajen Gohain took oath as Union minister when Prime Minister Narendra Modi expanded his council of ministers inducting the Nagaon MP along with 18 others on Tuesday. Flood waters start taking a grim turn in Assam on Monday following heavy downpour during the last couple of days in the catchment areas in Arunachal Pradesh. The recent reign of terror in Dhaka has forced the north eastern states to remain on alert along the Indo-Bangladesh border. Hundreds of AJYCP activists in Sivasagar district launched day long strike in protest against the move to auction 12 oil fields. The agitating activists thronged the oil fields where they warned the Narendra Modi government at the Centre not to proceed with the deal. On Tuesday, they would block the National Highway No 37 to oppose the move. On Wednesday, AJYCP will stage rail blockade asking the Centre to roll back the decision by July 8. Notably, the Centre is preparing to auction dozens of oil fields to the private parties which include 12 from Assam.
Senior Congress leader Ripun Bora has assumed charge as Assam Pradesh Congress Committee’s interim president a couple of weeks after president Anjan Dutta died of illness in New Delhi.   Party high command in Delhi appointed Bora as interim president which is believed to be a chance for the Rajya Sabha MP to prove his organizational skill. “If the things within the poll-hit party start improving the high command is contemplating to confirm his appointment as PCC president. The move to auction 12 oil fields in Assam runs into a hail of state-wide protests. Announcing a slew of protest, the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad threatens to intensify protest if the Centre refuses to restraint by July 8. Talking to Assam Times, AJYCP leaders in Sivasagar said they are holding a 12-hour strike at the oil field in Sivasagar district on Monday. On Tuesday, the influential organization will further block the national Highway No 37 in protest against the controversial move of the Modi Government. On July 8, they would block the rails opposing the move.
