NDFB-S rebels killed in encounter

Security forces claimed to have killed two National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB-S) militants during an encounter in Sonitpur district on Wednesday..

According to information, the encounter took place in the Lakhipathar area where acting on a tip off, police Assam Rifles launched a joint operation.

Identified as self-styled 'Deputy Commandant' Sohiasula and self-styled 'Sergeant Major' Ratan, the rebels died on the spot during the heavy exchange of firing in the wee hours.

An AK-47, a magazine, ten rounds of fired cartridges, five rounds of live 7.62 mm ammunition, a Chinese grenade were found from their possession.
