Assam BJP firbrand and former Union minister Bijoya Chakravarty says her party is not averse to forge poll pact with Asom Gana Parishad. Talking to reporters recently in the city, she has said the poll pact has become necessary only to bail out Assam from the Congress misrule. "There may be some difference between AGP and BJP. All these are ideological but we are united this time we must end the misrule of the Tarun Gogopi Government in the state." she has said.
She further said both BJP and AGP are in for a bright prospect for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls and if it so happens, she has said, it will be a big relief for the people."
Mrs Chakravarty, who has recently been posted a the party’s vice president in the national level observed that during the last elections in State, division of votes on mere 30 seats between the two parties was a major factor in allowing the Congress to form the government.

As the BJP’s vice president in the national level, Mrs. Bijoya Chakravarty will get ample opportunity to serve Assam and indeed the entire nation. Knowing her as I do, I am sure, she will be able to achieve for us what others have failed to achieve in the past. We expect much from her.

Normal business activities in Guwahati have come to a grinding halt as the traders on Saturday in protest against the move to the trade license fee by 300% by the Guwahati Municipal Corporation. The Assam-Nagaland border areas in Sivasagar district slips into a simmering situation after Nazira police foiled the bid of group of officials from Longleng district administration to set up a polling booth in Geleky. The officials under the Tamlu legislative assembly constituency arrived in Borhola on Wednesday evening headed by Tamlu SDO who asked his Nazira counterpart to allow them to set up polling booth in the place.
