BJP not averse to poll pact with AGP: Chakravarty

Assam BJP firbrand and former Union minister Bijoya Chakravarty says her party is not averse to forge poll pact with Asom Gana Parishad. Talking to reporters recently in the city, she has said the poll pact has become necessary only to bail out Assam from the Congress misrule. "There may be some difference between AGP and BJP. All these are ideological but we are united this time we must end the misrule of the Tarun Gogopi Government in the state." she has said.

She further said both BJP and AGP are in for a bright prospect for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls and if it so happens, she has said, it will be a big relief for the people."

Mrs Chakravarty, who has recently been posted a the party’s vice president in the national level observed that during the last elections in State, division of votes on mere 30 seats between the two parties was a major factor in allowing the Congress to form the government.

Assam governor JB Patnaik says that his government has done a lot to ensure development all on fronts. Opening the Assam assembly session on Tuesday Patnaik claimed that peace is back to the state to boost the process of development. But the opposition parties didnot allow the governor to continue his speech. With festoons a section of AGP and BJP members raised to register protest. They said the government has done only corruption and nothing else. This has forced Patnaik to cut short his speech. CPIM general secretary Prakash Karat says that his party would raise the multi crore scam in NC Hills of Assam in parliament. National Federation of Newspapers Employees has extended moral support to the agitating journalists of Manipur, who have been demanding an unconditional release of an editor of a local daily.
