Varsity Week at Women’s University

The first University Week of Assam Women’s University (AWU) christened as ‘Spriha’ got underway on Monday, February 23 with the hoisting of the university flag. On the occasion the mentor of AWU KM Buzarbaruah also released balloons.

KM Buzarbaruah has expressed his satisfaction with the progress and activities of the university during the short span of time since its inception and assured the gathering that further expansion of the university in both aspects, infrastructural and academics would be conducted very soon.

AWU’s registrar Krishna Gohain also spoke on the occasion. Jorhat’s deputy commissioner Solanki Vishal Vasant said that the district administration will lend whole hearted co-operation for infrastructural extension of the university.

Jorhat’s superintendent of police Amanjeet Kaur who was also present during the occasion urged the students to work hard to cherish their dreams. On the occasion, cultural programmes were also performed.

Assam Women’s University, Jorhat celebrated the 56th birthday of the Forest Man Padmashri Jadav Payeng at its premises on Saturday. In his honour, the day was christened as ‘Forest Day’ by the university. The celebration began with the planting of a sapling by the ‘Forest Man of India’ Jadav Payeng in the university campus.
