The Centre devise an effective mechanism with China for trans-boundary rivers like the Brahmaputra to pursue water-sharing with the neighbouring country.
This was more or less of what chief minister Tarun Gogoi said when he was addressing the Assam Water Conference, 2015, in Guwahati on Friday.
In his speech, Gogoi said it has become a necessity for the Centre to thrash out a water-sharing mechanism with all riparian countries as China is building dams on the mighty river.
Union water resources minister Uma Bharati, Union minister of state for DoNER Jitendra Singh and state water resources minister Basanta Das were present at the conference.
