3 people killed in Sibasagar due to Naga aggression

A group of Naga people suspected to be sympathisers and supporters of of NSCN (I-M) attacked villagers on the Assam side in Sonapur, Borholla and Dhekiajuli on Assam-Nagaland border under Geleky sector in Sivasagar District around 3.15 in the morning. Three people have been reported dead in these various incidents. In Sonapur, the Naga attackers shot dead Sarabat Ali and Min Bahadur Chetri and one Kamal Bahadur Chetri was also killed when the Nagas detonated a land mine at Sarasajiya Village.

Villagers while speaking to AssamTimes on the spot have expressed anguish that this is not the first time that this has happened and that there have been various such instances in the past but the the magnitude of violence was not that high. Most of these instances are not even reported in the Media. Ming Bahadur Chetri an elderly local says they have constantly lived with the fear of being attacked by people from across the Assam Border.

Nagaland has not commented on the incident till now. Meanwhile the AASU and the AJYCP have called for a 12 hour District Bandh starting at 5 AM on Friday. No untoward incidents have been reported till now
