The Chief of BTC Hagrama Mohilary who is also the president of Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) today said that his party will give chance to new faces in the forthcoming 3rd elections to BTC to be held on the last part of March.
Talking to newsmen in the side line of the 4th annual convention of Bodo National Conference (BNC) held at Bodofa Cultural Complex today said the BPF will bring new faces in some constituencies as per the demand of the people. He said he will give response to the demand of the people where they want changes of some representatives whose performance are poor. “This time, there would be public voting system to get ticket as people will choice their leadership of their own”, he said adding that he was concern for the demand of the people. He said at least 10-15 fresh candidates would be fielded from BPF in the coming elections. He also said the BPF will get absolute majority in the forthcoming council elections and it will form the next government.
Replying to questions, Mohilary said the BPF will not go for alliance with any party but will fight alone. He said not only congress but Naba (Hira) Sarania’s party from O-Boro organizations, People’s Coordination for Democratic Rights (PCDR), BJP and others have been trying to dethrone from power in the council but said that congress and other party will not be able to form government in the council other than BPF. He also said APCC president Anjan Datta’s claim to take hold of power in BTC was his personal view but said that congress will not be able to form government at Dispur in 2016 without the support of BPF. He said Datta knew the role of BPF during the last assembly and parliamentary elections in the state and he should be aware of the fact that the BPF has a capacity to act in the assembly constituencies inside or outside BTC.
Mohilary welcomed the decision of the he State Election Commission which is planning to hold the 3rd elections to BTC in the last part of March. He said new candidates from BPF would be selected in different seats in the election. He said the few faces would be brought in due to the demand made by the public. He demanded that the Bodo villages outside BTC should be included in autonomous councils like Rabha Hasong, Tiwa, Mising, Karbi Anglong autonomous councils and if the government does not want to include Bodo villages with these autonomous councils then there should be separate autonomous for the Bodos outside BTC.
BNC president Mohilary said that a delegate and CWC meeting was held in the 4th annual convention of the BNC held where some important resolutions were adopted in the delegate sitting. He said the government of India should invite all the groups of the NDFB together to resolve their problems. He said that both NDFB (Ranjan Daimary) faction and NDFB (Progressive) should be brought in the same table. He said that there should not be talk with single faction of the outfit. He also appealed Songbijit faction to shun all kinds of violence and to come forward towards main stream and join in peace process with the centre. He further said all kinds of unlawful activities like kidnapping, killing and extortion would be continuing unless the militant groups do not come to the negotiation table. He strongly condemned the ghastly act of the NDFB (S) on December 23 which claimed over 80 people in Kokrajhar, Sonitpur and Chirang districts of Assam. And at the same time, he also hailed the newly appointed Chief Election Commissioner Hari Shankar Brahma.
