Insufficient ex-gratia amount!

The All Adivasi Students Association of Assam(AASAA) is unhappy with the ex-gratia and rehabilitation grants of the government for the family members of the recent carnage victims.

The organization further demanded hike of Rs 20 lakh each to the deceased victim and Rs.5 lakh to the injured persons during carnage.

Talking to Assam Times, AASAA leader Satyanath Tudu said that the association and affected peoples were not satisfied with the ex-gratia and rehabilitation grants of the government.

He said the government announced just Rs. 5 lakh to the deceased families and Rs. 50,000 and Rs. 22,000 against the houses burnt down completely and partially.

The AASAA also submitted a memorandum to DC demanding hike ex-gratia and rehabilitation related issues for the peoples those who were affected during the carnage and post carnage.

Notably, Deputy Commissioner Thaneswar Malakar said that the government of Assam has announced to provide Rs. 5 lakh to next to the deceased families, Rs. 50,000 to the families whose houses are burnt completely and Rs. 22,000 to the families whose houses are burnt partially.

Security forces have intensified their combing operation against militant outfits in the region.  Three link men/over ground worker of the National Democratic Front of Boroland-Songbijit faction were apprehended by security forces in a joint operation at Ripu Reserve Forest on Sunday morning in Kokrajhar district. Over 15 shops along the Fakiragram main Bazar in Lower Assam’s Kokrajhar district have turned into ashes.  The fire damaged worth of nearly 50 lakhs properties following fire in gutted on Friday late night. A businessman was hospitalized after attacked with sharp weapon by miscreants at Champa bazaar area on Friday evening in Kokrajhar district. An emergency response mock drill was conducted by the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) at Habrubari in Kokrajhar district on Friday,which was a part of offsite emergency mock on the IOCL Guwahati-Siliguri underground pipeline to test the preparedness of its emergency personnel.
