The Assam Congress on Sunday maintained that the cycle of violence which is now under control does not match President Rule a day after prominent political parties along with several organization raised the demand.
APCC president Anjan Dutta said that these parties have no right to raise the demand when the state’s law and order scene started improving only after the people restored the Congress government in 2001.
"After Congress came to power in Assam, people can now be safely out till 2 am in the morning. Under such circumstances the demand for President's Rule is not acceptable," Dutta said a day after chief minister said that if the Centre thinks so it is free to d so.
