Sonitpur police have arrested a hardcore NDFB-S couple on Wednesday and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from their possession.
Police told Assam Times that acting on a tip off policemen with the help of 12 Assam rifle and 210 Cobra conducted a sudden checking where the duo were nabbed from the Koliabhomora bridge on the Brahmaputra.
Identified as Bailshree Narjari and Jolin Narjari, the couple were arrested as they were passing over the bridge on a motorcycle in the wee hours.
The arms and ammunition were kept in two bags. These include 33 rifles; an m39 grenade launcher, 60 rounds of bullets, 16 grenade shells, two mobile phones, 13 SIM cards along with some incriminating documents.

An unidentified body of a girl was found from a compartment of the Awadh-Assam Express at Guwahati Railway station on Friday.The body was found after the train arrived in Guwahati from Lalgarh in Rajasthan to be spotted by the cleaners inside a plastic drum near the bathroom of S-7 coach. An independent panchayat candidate allegedly committed suicide on Friday after losing an election in Assam's Kamrup (Rural) district.
