Rajan takes reins of Sainik school

Sainik School Goalpara got a new principal after a gap of six months. Major Dipankar Sharma, the Registrar handed over the charge to the new incumbent, Captain Edwin Jothi Rajan who was serving as Additional Command Education and Welfare Officer in the headquarters, Western Naval Command, Mumbai.

Commissioned in the Indian Navy in 1996, he has been closely associated with training of officers and sailors entrants of the Indian Navy, in addition to holding appointments in the Command headquarters and integrated headquarters of the Ministry of Defence (Navy).

The Principal addressed the staff and the cadets during the Special Assembly held on December 12 in which he exhorted the staff on the good work done by them. He motivated the children to “Work, Work Hard and work Some More” to make SSG the best public school in academics and sports in the North Eastern region.

The cadets were thrilled to listen to the Principal and they pledged to make the school, the very best in the region. Established in the year 1964, SSG has been one of the leading educational institutes in the north eastern region.

It has alumnus who are working in different parts of the country and couple of them are also serving in the defence forces. SSG is situated in Mornoi area of Goalpara district which is approximately 144 kms away from Guwahati

Krishak Mukti Sangram Samitee led by Akhil Gogoi submitted a memorandum to Prime Minster against the construction of large dams in the north east.
