AASU activists on Tuesday staged demonstration across the state opposing Prime minister Narendra Modi’s open support to the Indo-Bangla land deal.
AASU workers staged a day long dharna in all district and sub-divisional headquarters from the morning asking Modi to cancel the controversial land deal.
Shouting slogans against the prime minister, AASU leaders told Assam Times that they won’t allow the Centre to give away land to Bangladesh which really belongs to Assam.
According to AAS general secretary Tapan Kumar Gogoi, the portion India which is supposed to get back from Bangladesh really belongs to Assam while whatever the portion Centre wants to give away to Bangladesh also belongs to Assam.
AASU intensified the protest three days after the Prime minister announced his open support to the deal saying that it would help Assam permanently solve the influx problem.
