AASU reiterates demands

The All Assam Students Union has reiterated its old demands before the Centre when an AASU delegation met Union home minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi on Wednesday.

Led by AASU adviser Dr Samujjal Bhattacharya, the four member delegation called on the Union minister and demanded implementation of the Assam Accord, sealing of Indo-Bangla border and updating the national registrar of citizens at the earliest.

They told Singh that sealing of the porous international border will only help the state prevent entry of immigrants and jihadi elements.

Singh assured the AASU delegation of early consideration of the demands.
