Commissioner calls for error free electoral roll
The Commissiner, Lower Assam Division Sabbir Hussain visited Chirang district on Friday as a Roll Observer in connection with the Special Summary Revision.
Hussain during his visit, held a meeting with the ERO, AEROs, BLOs and representatives of political parties and took stock of the progress of summary revision. The Commissioner, while addressing the meeting he emphasised to prepare an error free photo electoral rolls. To achieve ninety percent correct voters'; list, only the effort of the officials is not enough without the participation and cooperation of the public, he said.
He stressed on the importance of joint effort in preparing error free electoral roll involving political parties, VCDC chairmen and village heads. He has also dwelt on the importance of how a wide publicity can be helpful in making people aware of their voting and political right and requested the officials to encourage the youths and women to enroll their names in the electoral roll.
Earlier, DC, Chirang Virendra Mittal gave key note address on the summary revision of electoral rolls in regards to 31-Sidli (ST) LAC. He briefed on the progress so far made and the steps being taken by the District administration throghout this special summary revision in the district. Among others the meeting was attended by ADC Dasarat Das, EO Dharanidhar Boro and EAC Dhrubajyati Das.

An emergency response mock drill was conducted by the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) at Habrubari in Kokrajhar district on Friday,which was a part of offsite emergency mock on the IOCL Guwahati-Siliguri underground pipeline to test the preparedness of its emergency personnel.
