A delegation of British parliamentarians is likely to visit Assam as part of goodwill visit to India next year. According to British Deputy High Commissioner Furssedonn Wood, who was a recent visit to Guwahati told chief minister Tarun Gogoi that the delegation would visit the state likely in the first part of the year. The delegation is expected to study the feasibility of investment proposals in the vital sectors of the north eastern state. The British Deputy High Commissioner based in Kolkata apprised the Chief Minister of their keen interests to invest in infrastructure sector.
The Centre for Research and Advocacy (CRA), Manipur, in collaboration with the Affected Citizens of Teesta, Sikkim, Borok Peoples Human Rights Organization, Tripura, and Civil Society Women Organization, Meghalaya, organized a consultation on the protection of Indigenous Peoples' Land and Human Rights from 4th to 5th March 2023 in Imphal, Manipur.
During the consultation, Mr. Jiten Yumnam, Secretary of CRA, Manipur, shared concerns about the increased targeting of the land, rivers, forests, and natural resources across North East India for dam building, energy projects, and extractive industries.
