Former Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta blamed it all on Congress and BJP-led governments at the Centre for the plethora of problems confronting the state for years.
In his address at the opening session of the Asom Gana Parishad in Guwahati on Tuesday, the former party president squarely blamed BJP alleging its lack of interest to resolve the decade old problems.
Taking a dig at his successor Tarun Gogoi Mahanta said that he talks of Centre’s indifference only in the Narendra Modi regime but ignores the misdeeds during the UPA regime.
“Both the Congress and BJP were not interested in ensuring peace and development in Assam as evident from the land transfer deal signed with Bangladesh,” said the two time chief minister.
According to Mahanta, “the UPA government at the Centre signed the land deal while the NDA government will ratify it in the next session of Parliament," Mahanta said.
