The Assam Government has written to Calcutta University requesting the Laxminath Bezbaruah Chair, the doyen of Assamese literature who had his graduation from the leading varsity. This is one of the measures to popularize the litterateur.
Addressing a press conference in Guwahati on Monday, education minister Pradyut Bordoloi said that the government is all prepared to provide fund as soon as they receive green signal from the authority.
He asked schools and colleges to popularize O Mor Apunar Desh among students which has already been translated in 42 languages.
Moreover, the government will start a lecture series from Tuesday. Academician Ranjit Kumar Deva Goswami will be delivered on Bezbaroa at the Rabindra Bhawan in the evening.
