Chief minister Tarun Gogoi has accused prime minister Narendra Modi of undermining the north east during Chinese president Xi Jinping’s country visit. Gogoi alleged that despite historical cultural ties with China, the Northeast failed to get an importance during Xi's visit.
"The Ahoms came to Assam from South China. Isn’t it a proof of historical links between Assam and China? But the region got no importance only because of the Prime Minister” said Gogoi.
He further alleged that Gujarat police kept away hotel staff hailing from the Northeast when Xi visited Ahmedabad to thwart anti-China protests. He called it an insult to the region. “Even he kept away Union minister of state for home Kiren Rijiju, who is a native of Arunachal Pradesh.
