In a bid to restore confidence among the people along the Assam-Nagaland border in Golaghat, the Assam government officials will hold a meeting between heads of all the affected villages from both sides on September 22. The decision figured in the meeting between senior officer MGKV Bhanu and AK Rout in Golaghat on Sunday attended by DCs and SPs of Upper Assam districts. DCs and SPs from Golaghat, Jorhat, Sivasagar, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao attended the meeting which primarily discussed the border issue. /

Jails in Assam will soon take the yoga route to reform prisoners. Yoga practice will develop the physical, mental, spiritual and social health of prisoners; moreover it will make them forget the pain of living in jail. – this was stated by Yogacharyya Subhashish, president of Indian Yoga Culture and Yoga Therapy Centre in the yoga program held on Wednesday at Central Jail, Dibrugarh. Rhino poaching seems to have recurred in Kaziranga. A female rhinoceros was found dead with gunshot wounds and its horn removed in the Kaziranga National Park on Friday.The horn is off from the carcass near Dhanbari camp under Agratoli range by forest guards, taking the total number of the pachyderms killed this year to 25. Three bullet injuries were spotted on the carcass and three used cartridges of an AK-47 rifle were found from the spot.
