Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi asked for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s personal intervention to restore peace in Uriamghat along the boiling Assam-Nagaland border.
In a letter to the Prime Minister on Saturday, Gogoi requested Modi to send additional ten companies of CRPF personnel in the violence hit areas for rapid reinforcement of security along with setting up of security pickets in the affected villages.
He urged Modi to hold a meeting at the political and official levels urgently to discuss measures for restoring peace in the area.
Gogoi alleged that CRPF personnel deployed there have been failing to protect the lives and properties of the villagers.
He said that the volatile situation could have been averted had there been deployed prompt, proactive and unbiased neutral forces. //
