The uneasy calm refuses to die down along the Assam-Nagaland border areas in Golaghat district a day after Naga miscreants killed two people apart from torching at least 50 houses in five places.
Security forces are on round the clock vigil apprehending more reign of terror by the miscreants in Umiamghat where thousands of people from five places have left their homes.
The massive exodus on Tuesday forced the district administration to set up at least six relief camps. A group of top civil and police officials has been constantly monitoring the entire situation.
Top officials told Assam Times that there is no report of any fresh attack of the Naga miscreants during the last 18 hours. But the local residents ruled that the security forces have failed to restore confidence in the area which is why, they have left their homes fearing backlash.
