Workshop on citizen journalism
A media workshop on Citizen Journalism and New Media in Bajali, Pathsala, evoked a good response from journalists and commoners alike on Sunday.
About 30 print and television journalists from the West Assam districts of Barpeta and Baksa participated in the daylong workshop organized under the aegis of www.assamtimes.org at the Anandaram Barooah Academy.
Speaking on the occasion, independent journalist and staff editor of www.assamtimes.org, Syed Miraz Ahmed dealt at length with the relevance of Citizen Journalism and New Media at a time when media seems to be a flourishing business proposition.
Among the participants were Dhanjit Das, Focus NE Bureau Chief for West Assam and Parg News corespondent Bhashkar jyoti Das.
HS Examination topper Ashifa Habib of Anandram Barooah Academy, Bajali was felicitated with a Gamocha, a Japi and a Citation during the event.

NIA probing the Burdwan bombing case has arrested 6 more villagers from Barpeta on Wednesday a day before the investigating team left for Bangladesh. Yet another incident sends shockwaves in Barpeta district where a youth died after he slipped from a moving train on Saturday. The incident took place when the youth was travelling on the North East Express and as the train arrived in Dayaguri in Barpeta district he suddenly fell on the ground to be crushed by the train.

Nalbari police have arrested four dreaded Maoist extremists and seized two powerful grenades from their possession on Thursday. Acting on a tip off that a gang of Maoist extremists hailing from Jharkhand has been camping in Koithalkuchi area, police conducted a raid at a house where they were captured.
