Zoo-Carnival at GU

On the occasion of World Migratory Bird Day (11th May), student’s community of Department of Zoology, Gauhati University organized an exceptional programme ‘Zoo-Carnival-2014’at PhanidharDutta Seminar Hall, GU on 11th and 12th May, 2014. Dr. DhrubajyotiSaikia, Vice Chancellor of Cotton College State University inauguratedthe two daylong programmesponsored by NHPC and co-sponsored by Idea Cellular, Assam.

The Day one started with a rally on One Horned Rhino of Assam and Migratory Bird with the objective tocreateawareness among the student’s community as well as public about theflura& faunas of Assam.

On the second day, a lecture programme was organized in which Dr. B. K. Bhattacharya, Head, NE Region, Centre for Inland Fishery Research Institute delivered lecture on the topic ‘Ichthyo-FaunisticResource in India ’. A wildlife photograph Exhibition was also held at PD Hall, GU in which more than 20 students coming from different places of Assam showcased their potential in wildlife photography. The event was brought to an end with vote of thanks from the President, JadumoniRabha and Secretary, DhurjatiPathak of the organizing committee for the successful completion of the event.
