Amid tight security, the Election Commission is holding fresh polling in three booths in Karimganj Lok Sabha constituency.
Polling is underway on a brisk note. Voters in large number are waiting outside the three booths to exercise their franchise from 7 in the morning.
Repolling is underway in Haricharan Mahamaya LP School, Kaberiband LP School and Matijhuri Girls’ HS School to be concluded at 5 in the afternoon.
The repolling was ordered after examining the video footages where a Congress worker Bapan Das was casting a number of votes in Haricharan Mahamaya LP School in the second phase of Lok Sabha polls on April 12.
In Matijhuri LP School booth two AIUDF workers namely Dilwar Hussain and Nurul Haque Majharbhuyan were seen roaming inside the polling booth at Matijhuri LP School.
In Kaberibandh LP School, the presiding officer himself casted multiple votes forcing BJP candidate Krishna Das to move the Chief Election Commission demanding fresh polling.
After enquiry from returning officer, the Commission ordered fresh polling on Wednesday which is underway.
