SDRF search operation in Beki

The Baksa district administration is all set to deploy SDRF at the Beki river on Wednesday in search of 15 people who went missing on Friday.

Official sources told Assam Times that the operation will start in the morning at Khagrabari area in the Salmbari sub division.

These people including a 3 month old baby have gone traceless when a group of 40-50 miscreants unleashed a reign of terror on Friday night.

The armed miscreants arrived in the village and set on fire the huts while some of them started indiscriminate firing at the villagers who were running out of their homes to get rid of the danger.

The miscreants were believed to have shot dead some of them near the Beki river. Some others were learnt to have jumped into the river amid darkness.

On Saturday and Sunday at least 16 bodies were found on the river bank. But 15 villagers have been remaining traceless.

NIA probing the Burdwan bombing case has arrested 6 more villagers from Barpeta on Wednesday a day before the investigating team left for Bangladesh. All these villagers including a woman were picked up from from Chatala village.Five of these villagers including the Chatala village gaonburah are being kept at the NIA regional office in Guwahati for intense grilling. Yet another incident sends shockwaves in Barpeta district where a youth died after he slipped from a moving train on Saturday. The incident took place when the youth was travelling on the North East Express and as the train arrived in Dayaguri in Barpeta district he suddenly fell on the ground to be crushed by the train.

Nalbari police have arrested four dreaded Maoist extremists and seized two powerful grenades from their possession on Thursday.
