Guwahati Police claimed to have captured a top Garo insurgent leader in Guwahati hardly a week after he escaped police at an encounter with Meghalaya police.
Identified as Tensang Sangma, the UALA sergeant major in East Garo hillls of the neighbouring state was arrested during a joint operation at Beltola area in the city on Sunday night.
The dreaded Garo insurgent leaders was arrested when he was landing in the city along with two girls for treatment of leg injury he sustained during a recent encounter with Meghalaya police.
A number of sensational cases is believed to have been pending against Sangma. Meghalaya police are all set to take him in the transit remand on Monday.
