Police constable shot dead in booth

A police constable was killed and two other policemen deployed in poll duty sustained injury when they clashed with voters over technical glitches in EVM at a booth in Gossaigaon on Thursday.

The incident took place when a section of voters in Harhbhanga booth tried to register protest against technical glitches in the electronic voting machines.

The clash erupted when constable Pinku Ranghang tried to bring the situation under control.

Amid the clash, Ranghang died on the spot while two others were rushed to the hospital.
