PM coming to cast vote

Dispur turns into a security fortress a day before the third and final phase of Lok Sabha polls. Dispur Govt HS School seems to have drawn maximum concentration of the security forces.

Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh is all set to visit the school to exercise his franchise on Thursday. Dr Singh, who is on his last visit to the state as a prime minister, is scheduled to arrive in Guwahati Airport at 12 noon by a special plane.

Then Dr Singh, who represents Assam in the Rajya Sabha, will straightly leave for Dispur by a helicopter where he would cast his vote at the Dispur Govt HS School at around 12-30.

During his brief visit to the capital city, Dr Singh will meet chief minister Tarun Gogoi and state Congress president Bhubneswar Kalita.

A team of special protection group has already arrived in the school premises to ensure safety and security of the prime minister whom Assam adopted in 1991.

Cost of PM and his family visit for casting vote in Assam msut be recover from his personal account as voter has to trevel to electoral booth at own cost/vehical as per the People Representation Act, there is no provisin of TA/DA/others allowances to voter for casting their votes

Anup coming by July 15

ULFA top leader Anup Chetia will be back to his home by July 15. Talking to Assam Times, home ministry sources said in Delhi that diplomatic efforts are in final stage to extradiate the ULFA top leader. The date would be finalized in a day or two. Pro-talk ULFA wants Anup Chetia's early extradition to boost the on going peace process. The pro talk ULFA leaders demanded steps for early extradition of the jailed top leader from Bangladesh when they held yet another round of peace talks with the centre on Wednesday. Extradition hope in ULFA peace talk

An early extradition of Anup Chetia is set to dominate yet another peace talk between centre and ULFA in New Delhi on Wednesday. Led by chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa, the pro-talk ULFA leaders are expected to mount pressure on the centre to bring the jailed secretary back from Bangladesh. The meeting is scheduled at 11.30 in the morning to be led by union home secretary RK Singh. Notably Chetia, of late, wants not to proceed with political asylum move and wants to be back to home.

Ranjan walks out of jail

NDFB chairman Ranjan Daimary walks free on Sunday two days after he procured bail in all crucial cases.
