12 arrested in Kokrajhar and Baksa

Police arrested 12 persons from Baksa and Kokrajhar district on Saturday for involving election related incidents.

Eight persons including 5 minor students and three ABSU members last late evening from Nikashi area in Baksa district of Assam.

According to sources police picked up Sonam Boro, 17(class 11), Raja Narzary, 15, (class X), Ajay Ramchiary, 15 (class X), Daoharu Boro, 18(class 12 and Rupul Ramchiary, 17 (class 11). The other three are members of Nilashi unit ABSU- Pranab Narzary, Sushil Ramchiary and Saniram Ramchiary for their alleged involvements in violent activities in pre-poll in the district. 

Meanwhil,  over a 1000 villagers of Daragaon, Dhansripur, Baganpur and Dihira gheraoed Nikashi police outpost demanding unconditional release of eight persons on Saturday.

Police assured released of the school students. 

Mention be made that Baksa witnessed a series of sporadic incident related to election since the last days.  

Meanwhile, police arrested Rafiqul Islam, president of Kokrajhar District committee of All Assam Minority Students Union (AAMSU) and three others members- AikhandarAli, Abu Baktar Ali and Madhu Sheik for indulging violent activities including setting on fire the election office of Bodoland Peoples’ Front(BPF) at Bombrabil in Kokrajhar district this morning. They have been sent to jail.

The Reality Public School organized annual sports day beginning today with three days colorful programme scheduled at its school complex in Kokrajhar.  Jagyabati Basumatary, district sports officer, Kokrajhar graced as chief guest on the occasion.  Students performed various sports and cultural activities, besides demonstrating Yoga session on the day.  Basumatary, in her speech said that the school has been running in a well manner while giving education to the students.  Prabir Barman, principal of school welcome the guest and parents who participated the programme. 
Manipur defeated  Tripura by 7-0 goals in today’s league match of the 21st Senior Women’s National Football Championship (North East Zone) which is underway at Kokrajhar District Sports Association (KDSA) ground  in Kokrajhar. Th Umapati Devi scored the first goal n the 22 minutes of the match. NG Baladevi, scored 5 goals in 29, 49, 51, 55 and 77 minutes.  D Grace scored the seventh 70 minutes to take the score 7-0 for Manipur. Kokrajhar District Sports Association facilitated NG Baladevi who was declared the best Indian women footballer for 2015 by the All India Football Federation  with traditional Bodo Aronai.
Thousands of BPF activists and supporters thronged the party office along the JD Road in Kokrajhar gheraoed, demanded nomination ticket to sitting MLA Pradip Kumar Brahma for Kokrajhar west(No.29) from party to contest Assembly election scheduled early next year.  Supporters with placards shouted slogans demanding nomination for Pradip from party to contest election from Kokrajhar west seat. Security forces have been intensified operations against militants. A joint team of army and police conducted operation following a secret input about militant moving at Saharghutu area under Gossaigaon PS this morning and able to arrest a cadre of National Santhali Liberation Army (NSLA).  The cadres was identified as Nicholas Hasda. He was involved money extortion, recruiting new cadres, illegal and nefarious activities in the region. A country made pistol was recovered from him. 
Meghalaya beat Arunachal Pradesh 1-0 in today's match of the 21st senior women national football championship being plated at KDSA ground in Kokrajhar.  For Meghalaya, Adarif K scored lone goal against Arunachal Pradesh in 21st minutes of first half. In the second half, Arunachal Pradesh tried to equalized the natch, but failed to score goal and lost to Meghalaya 0-1.  Tripura will take on Manipur tomorrow.

Security forces have claimed to capture a NDFB-S link man from Motambil area under Gossaigaon on Sunday in Kokrajhar district.  Based on a tip top information, security forces belonging to Army, Police and CRPF conducted an operation against the involved link men with militant outfits in the area and managed to arrest a link man.  The arrested was identified as Prabal Narzary alias Bangappa, informer and sympathizer of the militant outfits.  A country made pistol and two live ammunition wax recovered from him. 
Tripura beat Mizoram 3-1 in today’s match of the 21st Senior Women’s National Football Championship (North East Zone) being played  at Kokrajhar District Sports Association (KDSA) ground here in Kokrajhar. For Tripura Ganga scored two goals in 23 and 43 minutes. Ana Lakshan scored the third goal for Tripura in 19 minutes. For Mizoram, Eden Tharai reduced the margin in 38 minutes. Tomorrow Meghalaya will take Arunachal Pradesh.
