115 hyper sensitive booths

The election commission is gearing up efforts to ensure free and fair Lok Sabha polls in Assam beginning from April 7.

Talking to reporters in Guwahati on Thursday, state chief election officer Vijyandra said that altogether 64 lakh voters will exercise their franchise at 8,500 booths in the first phase of polling.

He said that of the 8,500 polling booths, 2150 have been identified as sensitive while 115 others are hypersensitive.  

This phase will cover Jorhat, Dibrugarh, Koliabor, Tezpur and Lakhimpur.
