Waiting for Rahul Gandhi

Amid a massive security arrangement, people thronging in thousands in Biswanath Chariali to attend Rahul Gandhi’s rally on Monday.

Security forces are fanning across the district to thwart any move by NDFB-S militants to disrupt Gandhi’s poll rally to campaign for Tezpur party candidate Bhupen Bora.

Senior party leaders told Assam Times that security forces are guarding hundreds of buses deployed by the party to ferry people to the rally at the Kamala Kanta Khetra.

Gandhi is scheduled to arrive in Tezpur at 11 in the morning. Then he would straightly leave for Biswanath Charilai to hold the rally. He would fly to Dibrugarh at 1-30 in the afternoon.      

Massive security arrangement is required in the entire district in view of NDFB-S militants’ 12 hour bandh to oppose Rahul Gandhi’s visit.

Rahul's rally in Assam is equally important. He has been strength of congress party and he has given its party a breakthrough. His efforts were transformed into actions.

One can see that Rahul Gandhi's popularity is rising day by day. He is very much popular among the young generation and also among the people at the grassroot level. He is putting good efforts in reaching out to people.

Book release: Oronyot Boroxun

A book based on a screenplay of an unfinished cinema by late Mrinalkanti Das titled Oronyot Boroxun (Rain in the Forest) released at a function at Guwahati Press Club on the Friday. Achievement likely for Manish

HS results on Monday

The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council is all set to announce the HS results in all streams on Monday. The results would be available for all at 10 in the morning. Properties worth twenty lakhs were reduced to ashes when a devastating fire broke out at a car workshop in Dibrugarh district on Sunday.The fire took place at Laipuli early in the morning due to electric short circuit which later engulfed the entire workshop. Police took several hours to bring the situation under control. The real extent of damage is yet to be ascertained.

AIUDF names Aminul for RS poll

Gogoi completes 12 years as CM

Climbers bring more pride

Assam has reasons to smile. Two youths bring pride for the state after they scaled the Mount Everest on Saturday.The first North East Indian Mount Everest expedition has scaled the final summit for Mt. Everest from the Everest Base camp. The team comprising 22 members from the region ensured the landmark victory at 5-30 in morning.The North Eastern Council and the Manipur Government sponsored the team consisting entirely of climbers from the region have Tarun Saikia and Manish Kumar Deka from Assam. The team reached Camp-III on May 15 which is located 24,000 feet above the sea level.
