Waiting for Rahul Gandhi

Amid a massive security arrangement, people thronging in thousands in Biswanath Chariali to attend Rahul Gandhi’s rally on Monday.

Security forces are fanning across the district to thwart any move by NDFB-S militants to disrupt Gandhi’s poll rally to campaign for Tezpur party candidate Bhupen Bora.

Senior party leaders told Assam Times that security forces are guarding hundreds of buses deployed by the party to ferry people to the rally at the Kamala Kanta Khetra.

Gandhi is scheduled to arrive in Tezpur at 11 in the morning. Then he would straightly leave for Biswanath Charilai to hold the rally. He would fly to Dibrugarh at 1-30 in the afternoon.      

Massive security arrangement is required in the entire district in view of NDFB-S militants’ 12 hour bandh to oppose Rahul Gandhi’s visit.

Rahul's rally in Assam is equally important. He has been strength of congress party and he has given its party a breakthrough. His efforts were transformed into actions.

One can see that Rahul Gandhi's popularity is rising day by day. He is very much popular among the young generation and also among the people at the grassroot level. He is putting good efforts in reaching out to people.

Senior Congress leader and MP Gaurav Gogoi today claimed that the Grand Old party-led alliance will win atleast one seat more than the ruling NDA in the upcoming Assam assembly elections. Interacting with media, the Kaliabor MP said that the people are now fed up with the policies of the BJP. “ People are becoming disenchanted with the BJP. In a major setback for the Congress, which has been struggling hard to regain strength since 2014, has today lost two of its prominent faces in Assam. Sitting MLA of Badarpur, Jamaluddin Ahmed and former MLA of Dergaon Aroti Kachari Hazarika passed away. The Dergaon politican was 59. The two leaders' deaths were mourned by many including APCC president Ripun Bora, former minister Bismita Gogoi, among others.
Noted Assamese linguist and former Cotton College professor Dr. Ramesh Pathak is no more. The professor has passed away today after a brief illness. His death is mourned by many. Born in Tihu, Nalbari Dr. Pathak has made tremendous contribution in the field of the Assamese linguistic by penning a number of books. A few years ago, he was bestowed with the Sahityacharrya Award by the Asam Sahitya Sabha.
