Guwahati: Youth heartthrob Zubeen Garg will be the brand ambassador of the state's agriculture sector to uplift the back of the economic health.
The popular singer formally agreed to accept the stint as he called on state agriculture minister Atul Bora in Guwahati on Saturday.
The singer called on Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal two weeks back where he got the proposal informally.
His acceptance of the proposal assumed significance since he opposed tooth and nail BJP's CAA and urged the people to dislodge the Sonowal government which drew a huge response.
The singer was not available for comment on the question of his stiff opposition to CAA and promised to lead a new political party.

An additional superintendent of police was among two were killed in an encounter with NDFB-S in Sonitpur district on Tuesday.The encounter took place at Batashipur in Dhekiajuli along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh interstate border where additional SP Guljar Hussain and a policeman were killed. A full grown tortoise pulled huge crowd after it was rescued in Guwahati on Monday.Local residents in Hengrabari rescued the animal weighing around 40 kg from a pit in the morning. They informed it to the forest department through police.Later the forest officials took it to the Assam State Zoo. The local residents are looking for another tortoise which is believed to have been hiding in the pit.
