Guwahati: Veteran Congress leader and former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is dead. He passed away in the evening at Guwahati Medical College Hospital where he was undergoing treatment of post COVID complications.

His condition deteriorated on Saturday as his organs did not properly respond to the line of treatment.

Driver missing with cash

The Guwahati policemen are launching an operation in search of a Brinks Arya driver who went missing with a huge amount of money from the city he was carrying to put in ATM booths along with three others.Identified as Rubul Barman, he went missing from Ganesguri area when a HDFC bank official, security guard and an ATM worker were depositing cash at an ATM booth. The driver took Rs 1.80 crore in cash from the vehicle and vanished from the scene. When the three others returned to the vehicle the driver was not found inside the vehicle forcing them to move police. The police have detained the HDFC bank official and security guard for questionings.

Why don’t stop animal sacrifice

Animal sacrifice in Durga puja strikes no less shock and anger among many organizations and individuals across the state. Dozens of buffalos and goats are being sacrificed in many temples in the name of Durga puja from Tuesday. A glimpse of the buffalos, goats, ducks and pigeons being kept for sacrifice at the historic Kamakhya temple premises really shocks the animal lovers. Hero Indian Super League club NorthEast United FC have groomed Cameroon defender Andre Bikey as a replacement for injured Miguel Garcia hours before the commencement of the match in Guwahati on Tuesday.Miguel Garcia had suffered an Achilles Tendon rupture earlier this season, requiring a recovery time of 10 to 12 weeks. The 30-year-old Andre Bikey was a free agent having last played for England Championship side Charlton Athletic.

In yet another major change in the pre poll political landscape in Dima Hasao district, several Congress leaders are believed to have been preparing to join BJP. The date of joining has yet to be decided. Nita Ambani coming to Guwahati

A massive security is in place in and around Guwahati in view of VVIP visit to the premier north eastern city of on Tuesday. ISL chairperson Nita Ambani is scheduled to land the city at around 3 in the afternoon to attend the ISL match where NorthEast United FC are taking on Chennaiyin FC at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Sarusajai.She would be accompanied by many dignitaries.
