Tarun Gogoi dead

Guwahati: Veteran Congress leader and former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is dead. He passed away in the evening at Guwahati Medical College Hospital where he was undergoing treatment of post COVID complications.

His condition deteriorated on Saturday as his organs did not properly respond to the line of treatment.

The Guwahati policemen are launching an operation in search of a Brinks Arya driver who went missing with a huge amount of money from the city he was carrying to put in ATM booths along with three others.Identified as Rubul Barman, he went missing from Ganesguri area when a HDFC bank official, security guard and an ATM worker were depositing cash at an ATM booth. The driver took Rs 1.80 crore in cash from the vehicle and vanished from the scene. When the three others returned to the vehicle the driver was not found inside the vehicle forcing them to move police. The police have detained the HDFC bank official and security guard for questionings.

Animal sacrifice in Durga puja strikes no less shock and anger among many organizations and individuals across the state. Dozens of buffalos and goats are being sacrificed in many temples in the name of Durga puja from Tuesday. A glimpse of the buffalos, goats, ducks and pigeons being kept for sacrifice at the historic Kamakhya temple premises really shocks the animal lovers.
