Sonowal sends gifts to media in BTC

The gift items of chief minister(CM) of Assam, Sarbananda Sonowal was ceremonially distributed among recognized media persons in Kokrajhar and Chirang districts of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) on Monday in presence of officials of district administration and information & public relations department.

In Kokrajhar, a total 22 media fraternities in Kokrajhar district was offered CM's new year 2021 gift items at a programme held at Kokrajhar Press Club today.

BTC Secretary Bhawani Prasad Sarma,BTC Under Secretary Anitya Kumar Brahma,BTC council head of department (CHD) for information and public relations Ansuma Mohilary,Kokrajhar DIPRO Tridiv Nandan Borah attended and ceremonially distributed the CM's gift items.

The gift items were distributed under the CM's special initiative for new year 2021 to the government recognised media persons by directorate of information and public relations,Assam.

Media fraternities have expressed their happiness and extended thanks to the chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal for extending gift items for the journalist fraternities across the district.

In Chirang,  additional Deputy Commissioner Karmadev Brahma ceremonialy handed over the gift items given by the Chief Minister of Assam Sarbanada Sonowal to the government recognized media persons in the conference hall of circuit house.

The gift items were presented to the government recognized media persons by the Chief Minister of Assam as a new year gift and a token of appreciation and gratitude towards the services rendered by them especially during the pandemic situation.

The gift items were distributed among total 8 media persons who had government recognized media cards.

Various journalists welfare schemes implementing by the state government like Journalists' Medical Welfare Scheme, Media Fellowship, Assam Pension Scheme for Journalist, One Time Grant for Media Personality, One Time Ex-gratia to the next of kin of the deceased journalist, Journalists Family Benefit Fund, Press Tour on Goodwill Mission and Republic Day Journalism Award were also discussed in the programme.

BTR at war with COVID19 with full force

KOKRAJHAR: The nationwide lockdown has evoked full response in four districts of Bodoland Territorial Areas to fight against the COVID-19 outbreak across the country. District administrations have initiated strong measures to enforce the lockdown that would end by April 15. 487 at 6 Kokrajhar quarantine centres

KOKRAJHAR: Around 487 persons are being kept in the six quarantine centres set up in Kokrajhar district under strict observation with proper medical check up. The centres have been set up by district administration to check those persons who are coming from neighbouring states towards Assam in the wake of COVID-19 outbreak. Four of the six quarantine centres were set up at Srirampur itself along the inter state border with West Bengal,one each at Fakiragram and  Kokrajhar to stop the spread of the Coronavirus in the district.

NDFB cadres lay down arms

More than sixteen hundred NDFB cadres today formally laid down arms. In a ceremony organised at GMCH auditorium in the presence of chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal 1615 cadres of the outfit submitted their arms before the government authority. Welcoming them to the mainstream chief minister Sonowal hoped that the Paresh Baruah-led ULFA(I) would follow the path of the NDFB. A few days ago the government signed a tripritite peace treaty with all the factions of the NDFB. In the treaty the Centre and state government, reportedly, promised to upgrade the BTAD as BTR.

Assam bandh against UTC in BTAD

Several organisations including AAKRASU and ABAMSU have reportedly, called a 12-hour-long Assam bandh on January27 in protest against proposed UTC for BTAD. These organisations are apprehensive that the Union government is going to upgrade the BTC as UTC. Already, they have warned the Union government to abdicate such move.

Resentment over proposed UTC in BTAD

Several organistions have expressed resentment over the Centre's move to upgrade the Bodo Territorial Council as Union Territorial Council. According to sources the Centre would soon sign a peace pact with the NDFB . In the pact upgradation of the BTC as a UTC would likely to take place, sources revealed. Opposing the move AKRASU, ABAMSU and many other organistaions of the BTAD have warned the Union government to abdicate such decision. These organisations have also termed the proposal as undemocratic.
