The Assembly elections in the state will be held in three-phases.

The polls for 126-member Assam assembly will be held on March 27, April 1 and April 6.

Results will be announced on May 2

Bodos hit the streets in Delhi

Assam-Mizoram meeting in Delhi on Tuesday

 NEW DELHI: The Centre is holding a chief secretary level meeting in Delhi to mend the widening fences between Assam and Mizoram on March 20.   Union Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba will chair meeting to settle the boundary dispute between the two north eastern states in the wake of protests by students. Satyendra Garg, Joint Secretary attached for the region will also attend the meeting. Crowd pulling event in Kokrajhar

Bazar India hub in Kokrajhar

Kokrajhar: With a view to exploring marketing hub facility in Kokrajhar, the Bazar India Hub opens in the BTAD headquarters town on Saturday drawing huge applause from the people.    BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary opened the Bazar India hub in the presence of huge customer at JD Road near the fly over where many customers thronged the hub for shopping on the opening day.    The Bazar India has been managed the hub for the customers and currently there are 56 hubs are organising the hub across the country.    Mohilary said that peace is restored in the region,so now many bazar or market organisers are coming up to make marketing uplift in the region....

Assam village ready to move Meghalaya

GOALPARA: An influential Garo organization in Goalpara bordering Meghalaya wants to be part of the neighbouring state alleging lack of proper care and attention of the state authorities. 15 detained for statute vandalization

KOKRAJHAR: The Kokrajhar police have detained at least 15 persons for allegedly vandalizing the statute of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee at Rabindra Nagar in Kokrajhar. They were detained after the All India Bengali Youth Students Federation demanded early identification of involved culprits and punished. On the other hand. Assam state BJP party will erect the statute afresh in the same place, party leaders said in Kokrajhar.The incident took place on Tuesday night when unidentified miscreants vandalised the statue triggering created anger among all sections of society.Local citizens condemned the incident and demand action against the miscreants.
