Kokrajhar: With a solemn note the Kokrajhar Book Fair gets underway where at least 30 books were released at Bodofa Cultural Complex on Saturday.
A section of the book stalls owners is unhappy with the rush of visitors on the opening day as many as 100 stalls from different states and abroad are participating the trade fair to showcase their products.
The event is being organised by Bodo Writers Academy, an organisation of Bodo writers in association with National Book Trust(NBT) and Sahitya Akademy of India to mark the celebration of the 34th Foundation Day of the Bodo Writers Academy which would be continued till March 20 next highlighting the creativity of writers and book publication in the state.
Member of the Advisory Board of Sahitya Akademy,New Delhi Aazim Kohli unveiled the books on the second day of the Bodoland Book fair.
Kohli said that the trust and Akademy are working to the uplift of Bodoland languages across the country and today unveiled several books written and translated rom different languages to Bodo.
“Bodo language and culture are very impressive and Bodo language literature is developing in the state,” Kohli said.
Balinese & Engish Writer from Indonesia Sonia Piscayanti will grace as chief guest while BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary will attend as inaugurator on the concluding day on March 20.
