The Assembly elections in the state will be held in three-phases.

The polls for 126-member Assam assembly will be held on March 27, April 1 and April 6.

Results will be announced on May 2

BY PRASENJIT SAHA AGARTALA: At least ten people including police officers sustained when a group of IPFT activists clashed with security forces in Tripura on Friday.The clash took place at noon in Takarjala area in Sipajala district in the morning where a section of the tribal outfit's activists turned violent as they were on the way to join a poll rally. Some of them had an altercation with the local residents on the road and as the policemen on duty tried to deal with the mild quarrel, they turned violent and took on them. As many as three police officers fell injured. They have been admitted in the hospital for treatment.
GUWAHATI: The Assam Government on Friday confirmed cancellation of 4 lakh job card which the panchayat rural development department identified as fake. The department officials apprised it to chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal who reviewed functionings on Thursday. The officials informed the chief minister that during the current fiscal, 87,299 self help groups have been formed against 20,762 SHGs during 2016-17. Kokrajhar: Massive preparations are going on in full swing to celebrate the 16th Bodoland Day on Saturday. PRASENJEET SAHA AGARTALA: Despite round-the-clock vigil in the run up to the assembly polls slated for February 23, arms smugglers seem to have moving in Tripura. Security forces captured an arms smuggler from Agartala railway station on Thursday and seized weapons from him in the morning.   Talking to www.assmtimes.org, police said identified as Naresh Chakma from Natunbazar area of Gomati district, 3 .22 made in Italy pistols along with 500 live rounds and a sharp knife were seized from his possession. KOHIMA: Defying boycott call 253 candidates have filed nomination papers for the upcoming Nagaland assembly polls slated for February 27. These include 5 women who turned up on the last day on Wednesday. GUWAHATI: Two bikers snatched away a bag containing money on the road leaving the Guwahati police red faced on Wednesday. GUWAHATI: Nine more ACS, APS and allied service officers on Wednesday are facing hand writing test in connection with the APSC scam. In response to the order issued by the special operation unit of Dibrugarh police, all these nine officers appeared the test at the Guwahati based SB headquarters in the morning.  They include four ACS officers along with 2 APS officers and one each of tax inspector and excise inspector.
