In a tragic accident, six migrant workers from Assam, reportedly, died in a forest area in Meghalaya after falling into a pit. The NDTV has reported that the accident occured in East Jayantia Hills.
Meanwhile, in a facebook post senior journalist Patricia Mukhim has said that the mortal remains of the miners are kept in the morgue at Khliehriat.
In the post Mukhim lamented saying, “ Just out: 6 miners have died due to an accident inside an abandoned coal mine in East Jaintia Hills..All 6 are from Assam. Bodies lying in the morgue at Khliehriat..And we say there's no mining???””
