Bihu enthralls Assamese crowd in North Delhi

No matter wherever he/she is, a true Assamese cannot stay away from Bihu. The fast growing Assamese community in Delhi kept the tradition of Bihu alive even after staying so far from Assam. SHRISTI, a very active Assamese youth organization successfully celebrated Rongali Bihu by organizing MUKOLI BIHU at Sewa Kutir (Outram Lines) North Delhi just like in Assam. On the auspicious day of Goru Bihu flag was hoisted by M.P. Kumar Dipak Das, Fomer Chairman & Managing Director of Oil India Ltd. , Binaybrata Sharma and Dr. Reena Sharma, the vice president of Assam Association, Delhi. The flag hoisting was followed by a chorus singing “Shreemoyee axomir xitol bukut uthe” composed by Purushottam das .The public also joined with the chorus as the song was proceeded by RinjaRisa,Shyamalee,Rajshree, Jutirani.

The event was witnessed by an impressive crowd of over 500 people who came to attend the function with their love for bihu in their heart.. Binaybrata Sharma started the programme by singing a popular bihu song joined by Reena Sharma in duet. It was enjoyed by everyone. Rajya Sabha M.P. Kumar Deepak Das delivered a welcome speech. Shristi’s General Secretary Uddipta Ranjan Baruah and Vice President, Manash Baruah welcomed all . A small group of kids from Dwarka performed a Bihu dance. Pakhi Saikia’s bihu dance captivated everyone.

A flute performance by Kamal Nayan Deori mesmerized everyone in the crowd. After this the stage was set with many more bihu songs sung by Dipakshi Kalita, Kimi Kalita, Rinja Risa Kaushik, Nabanita Hazarika, Ankur Dutta, Nabamallika Bhagawati, Angshuman baruah, Indrajit das, Debajit baruah, Uddipta, Prabhat baruah, Ekalavya Sarmah, Pallavi Dutta etc. The whole programme was put together expertly by Indrajit das, Secretary, Welfare, Assam Association, Delhi. Other prominent member like Bijumoni Bora, warden of Kamrupa Girls Hostel; Dr. Hareshwar Deka, Treasurer of Assam association; Dr. Sashanka Shekhar Dutta, General Secretary of Assam Association; Parthapratim Bora, Shrishti’s adviser; Partha Protim Hazarika, Dr. Mahesh Sharma, Gitali Saikia, Sanjib kakati, Achyut Hatimuria, Himjyoti Talukdar, Jyotirmoy Talukdar wished all a happy bihu and new year ahead.

Shrishti’s adviser Prabhat Baruah was congratulated by all as he has been elected as an executive member of Assam Association. Jutirani Baishya, Chief publicity secretary of Shristi talked about the organization and welcomed the interested ones for membership in the organization. President Hiranmoy Bhattacharya thanked everyone for their presence. The guests were served traditional Assamese food.. doi chira for breakfast and a lunch. At the end, “tekeli bhonga” competition was organized among the bihuboliya raaiz.
