Haflong girl enters Miss India final round

Rewati Chetri, a next door Gorkha girl from Assam’s ‘Ant Hill’  Haflong convent educated  LLB student of NEF Law College of Guwahati made it into Top 21 finalist of Miss India 2015. Intelligence, passion and patience is how she rates woman in order of priority the three qualities that every woman must possess while Trustworthy, loving, dedicated are the qualities in order of  personal preference, that she would admire in a man. Rewati romanticises Atif Aslam’s lyrics and person and would love to go on a date but Amir Khan is her favourite and Taare Zameen Par is her favourite movie. Love to Rewati is a feeling and emotion of togetherness between two people

Here are the excerpts of candid conversation with the Miss India Finalist 2015 from Assam representing the North East.

Q. Your feelings on being top 21 Miss India 2015 finalist.

Rewati:- feel great. It has always been a dream to become Miss India and now I am on the initial steps of it so indeed I feel great and O have no words to express it.

Q. Where do you see yourself in 1 weeks

Rewati:- In one week time would be Miss India finals and I am so focussed on seeing me with the crown. I wanna make my family, friends and well wishers extremely proud.

Q. How has been this journey?

Rewati:- Incredible! We learn so much in so little time. The Miss India Organization gives us an extensive amount of training that is gradually changing our lives to a far better person than what we were.

Q. Whom do you idolise in modelling.

Rewati:- Well! I don't actually idolize an individual person when it comes to modelling. There are so many extremely talented models in India and overseas. I always try to idolize the good in all of them so that it'll be of immense help to my career.

Q.  How do you define modelling as career option?

Rewati:- With India's large fashion industry there are enough and more opportunities for "right" men and women to be models. It is not as easy as it looks and requires a large amount of sacrifice and commitment. For those who are really committed and determined yes it is a wonderful career option.

Q.  If not a model what you would be

Rewati:- Well I am currently pursuing my studies in Law so of course I will become a lawyer in future but I shall not give up on modelling too. As long as my age and looks permit I shall go on with it.

Q. Your inspiration in life .

Rewati:- Definitely my mother. She has not just taught me but lived by example the kind of life every mother expects her child to live. It is from her I learn how to become a woman of substance.

Q.  What do you aspire

Rewati;- Aspirations are many. I definitely want to become Miss India and bring an International crown to my country. Apart from that I want to finish my studies in law and become a lawyer who is of great use to the society. I also want establish an organisation which focuses on educating and developing the skills of the underprivileged and become a woman of inspiration.

Q.  Briefly about your stint with Miss India so far

Rewati:- So far it has been a few days of constant learning. We learn so much. Everyday we have so many sessions that help us develop and become a better person. We workout hard, learn on diction and etiquettes and many more. It has been a completely learning experience so far and the best part os being trained by the experts in town.

Q. How did Miss India happen to you.    

Rewati- Honestly speaking it all started sudden.I had a long cherished dream but I got wings to it only after the Auditions.To say it was a very humble and a Surprise Kick to my Dream.

Q.  Back home we gearing up to support you, how has been the response to your achievement from your region

Rewati:- The response has been incredible.Its overwhelming to see them supporting me so much.I see many of them dreaming for my success maybe sometimes more than I do for myself which has by far been a great strength to me.

Q. What do you want to say to the people of the region

Rewati:- I want to say that I am doing more than the best I can to make all of you proud and happy and I will continue to do it. No matter how hectic our schedules become when I log into Facebook and notice the support of my people and hear about it from my friends it keeps me going. I really will not let you all down.

Q.  How can the people support you n get closer to Miss India crown???

Rewati:- Definitely with their blessings, love and encouragement. That definitely keeps me going and makes me want to do better. Till date i got huge support in WeChat voting and I am given to understand whole of North East is voting me. Huge Hug and Thank You North East, India and Rest of the World for the support. Now onwards maximum LIKE in my facebook page sharing and commenting on my posts and keeping me most engaged contestant will definitely inch me closer to the crown.

Army ready to help in the time of disaster

KOHIMA: In the event of any natural calamity in Nagalandthe Eastern Air Command, one of the five operational commands of the Indian Air Force, will join the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMAto effectively respond to incidents with Air Force personnel and other resources like well-equipped helicopters for disaster rescue operations.

 For this, both the concerned parties will work out comprehensive disaster management plans, helibases and strategic partnerships to make a greater impact on relief efforts including supplies of foods, safe drinking water, medicines and other materials to civilian population in tragedy.

These issues were discussed when Air Marshal Anil Khosla, the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-CEastern Air Command called on Chief Minister TR Zeliang at his residential office here this morning.

Khosla, who has also been tasked for defence in the eastern borders, discussed with Zeliang on construction of specialized defence radar at Pfutsero in Phek district.

The State government had already approved the acquisition of land for Airforce station in the district earlier like that of Shillong Peak which serves as a radar station for the Indian Air Force.

Khosla briefly highlighted the Chief Minister about the Shillong radar which looks into China and Bangladesh frontline that has high visibility capabilities to detect enemy's aircrafts in remote and inaccessible terrain of Northeast India

He appreciated Khosla for his keen interest to involve Airforce in joint disaster management in Nagaland and suggested both parties to sit across for discussion and tie-up for relief mission.

Scam in 10th APBn: CID probe begins

The Criminal Investigation Department is spreading its tentacles to unearth the truth behind the Rs 30 crore scam that rocks the Tenth Assam Police Battalion.

For the last two days, the investigating wing of the Assam Police has seized a huge number of official documents relating to the scam for the period from 1998 to 2001 from the Kahilipara based headquarters.

According to sources, as many as twenty officials are likely to be on CID dragnet soon.

Brisk prep for ABSU golden event

Only a few days are left. Spotlights seems to have fallen on Jangkhritai Pwthar in Kokrajhar. The historic spot dresses afresh ahead of the ABSU golden jubilee celebration from February 12.

Defying a biting coldwave hundreds of ABSU activists have been working round the clock to host the grand event to mark the completion of 50 eventful years.

Apart the state’s prominent people, veterans from the neighbouring states have confirmed their participation on the four day long event.

Lawrence Islary,general secretary of ABSU told Assam Timed the ABSU was founded on February 15 in 1967 and this year completes 50-years glorious steps in its organisational sustainbility. The celebration will be marking 50 years glorious steps and which will be starting on February 12 and concluding on February 15 with an open session.

‘There are several constructions for the celebrations have been in full swing with strong dedications. There are about 1500 volunteers are to be deployed to make disciplinary performing during the celebration. Nearly 5000 delegate and 5000 observers are taking part in the celebrtaion from all districts of Assam as well different city of the country and West Bengal state unit of ABSU’,Islary said.

There would be seminar on different topics and students’ conclave session has also been scheduling where resource persons from different universities of the country are participating.There would be a book fair and exhibition in the celebration where nearly 100 stalls are participating the celebration. Cultural troupes from different communities,including a team neighboring Bhutan are participating the conference with huge cultural members,he said.

Noted social activist and UN Brahma Soldier of Humanity award winner Aruna Roy will grace as chief guest on the concluding day of the celebration on February 15 next.

‘All kinds of preparations are in full swing to hold the celebrations.Peoples from all sections of society are giving services with dedication in the pwthar since beginning of January month’,Islary said.He said that the students union organising the conference with various colourful programmes where peoples from across the state as well nation are taking part. He has urged the all sections of communities to cooperate in the celebration to make a grand success with glorious steps.

Dr RN Sinha,vice chairman of Reception Committee said that this is a celebration of the students union and society of peoples where peoples from all walks of life participating.He said that the celebration will be marking a huge participation from different regions of the state as well country.He also that all kinds of preparations would be completed by February 7-8 next because all are touching with good performing by different sub-committees.

Peoples from different areas who are dedicating their services said that they are rendering social dedication as students union is organising a grand celebration.
